The way we were
Firenze Scienza. Le collezioni, i luoghi e i personaggi dell’Ottocento
8 November 2009 – 9 May 2010
“Firenze Scienza” is the title of a fascinating scientific exhibition that extends through four of the city’s museums to evoke that extraordinary time, before the unification of Italy, when Florence was the country’s intellectual capital.
The itinerary goes from Palazzo Medici Riccardi (“1829 Arte, scienza e società – Art Science and Society”), to the Museo di Storia Naturale, Sezione di Zoologia “La Specola” (“La Tribuna di Galileo e la Specola fiorentina – The Galileo Tribune and the Specola”), to the Fondazione Scienza e Tecnica, Gabinetto di Fisica (“La didattica delle scienze nell’Ottocento – Teaching Science in the Nineteenth Century”), to the Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza (“La Fisica a Firenze nell’Ottocento – Physics in Florence in the Nineteenth Century”), showcasing thousands of rare and valuable items, instruments, artifacts, paintings, drawings and sculptures.
