The Orchestra Regionale della Toscana at the Teatro Verdi

Here are some of the highlights of the Orchestra Regionale della Toscana (ORT) concert season at the Teatro Verdi in Florence:

  • 03/02/10 - Daniele Pollini conducting Haydn’s Symphony 101 (The Clock), Self-Portrait by Nigh, by Sciarrino (1982) and Symphony No. 8 Op. 93 by Beethoven.
  • 16/02/10Concerto di Carnevale con The Swingle Singers and the ORT, conducted by Marco Boni will perform selections from the Musical Offering by Bach, single arrangements of music by Chopin, Mozart, and Satie, along with songs by Björk, Sting and Joni Mitchell.
 Marco Boni is  principal conductor of the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra of Amsterdam, and musical director of the Wiener Kammersymphonie.
  • 17/03/10 - Intorno al Musical Mary Carewe will sing the  best songs from Broadway; Nick Davies conducting.
  • 31/03/10 – the Easter Concert, Schumann’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra Op. 54, featuring pianist Benedetto Lupo, and Schubert’s Symphony No. 5, conducted by Juanjo Mena.
  • 14/04/10Moshe Atzmon (for the first time in Florence)  will conduct the great cellist Steven Isserlis performing Schumann’s Concerto for Violoncello and Orchestra Op. 129, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, Op. 55 “Eroica” and the première of “Mareto IT” by Olivero with Andrea Tacchi (violin) and Michele Marasco (flute)
  • 21/04/10Roberto Prosseda will play Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto in E minor, conducted by David Afkham who will also conduct Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, Op. 68 “The Pastoral”, and the Hebrides Overture, Op. 26 by Mendelssohn
