Exhibition of SACI’s Abruzzo Photography Project -Inauguration: Monday, January 17 at 7:30pm

January 14th, 2011toJanuary 28th, 2011

The Anthony Campitelli Endowed Fund of the National Italian American Foundation awarded SACI a grant of 6,474 euros that has enabled seven SACI photography students, led by SACI media area head Romeo Di Loreto and SACI teaching assistant Kyle Kresge, to travel to Castelfrentano in the Abruzzo region near the area that was devastated by the 2009 earthquake. The SACI students worked for a week, alongside eight Italian students from the Liceo Artistico, Lanciano Castelfrentano e Frentania, photographing the cultural and artistic resources of the area. Their work was distributed to the citizens of Castelfrentano during a performance held on November 4, 2010. On December 16, 2010 students from SACI and the Liceo Artistico Lanciano Castelfrentano e Frentania presented a slide show of the photos produced during the workshop.  The workshop took place October 31 – November 5, 2010. This community project enabled SACI students to learn about the area, culture, cuisine, and way of life, with students from the Abruzzo as their guides.
