When I find something beautiful…

January 28th, 2012 10:00 AMtoApril 25th, 2012 10:00 AM

A precious selection of beautiful objects used in Catholic mass will be on display at the Casa Siviero Museum in Florence from January 28 to April 25. The exhibit features liturgical objects such as crosses, bells and thuribles, originally found in the church of San Giovanni Battista a Remole, located in the Florentine countryside. Until now, the items have never been viewed by the public, as they have been stored on the closed upper floor of the house museum. The collector Rodolfo Siviero recuperated all the displayed pieces from Germany, where they were taken illegally by Nazi soldiers. Siviero was a secret agent and art historian who devoted his life to recovering such Italian works stolen during the Second World War. Today, his home is a museum, where his immense and impressive collection is open free to the public.

The exhibit hours are on Saturday, from 10 am to 6 pm and Monday, from 10 am to 1 pm.

To visit the exhibit between Tuesday and Friday, you must make a reservation by writing to casasiviero@regione.toscana.it.

The Casa Siviero Museum is located on Lungarno Serristori 1/3.
