Aperitivo and Jazz: How Ideal

If you’re looking for a chic and comfortable aperitivo environment, look no further than Ideal, located on Via Il Prato, 4b, just outside Florence’s historic center. Ideal’s AperiJazz, which pairs aperitivo with a weekly jazz set, is an experience that covers all the bases: delicious food, gorgeous drinks, great music, a modern environment, and a trendy crowd.

The first thing one notices upon entering Ideal is its super modern décor, reminiscent more of a SoHo gallery than The Jetsons. The airy interior, low tables, and comfortable couches all encourage guests to mingle without literally rubbing elbows all night. There are fascinating design details throughout that should not be missed, making the space itself a great conversation starter amongst new acquaintances there. In warmer weather, guests can enjoy a modest outdoor seating area and the inevitable breezes that pass through the wide streets in this part of town.

Ideal’s aperitivo fare encompasses both traditional and modern Mediterranean cuisine, with offerings of crostini, grilled vegetables, and cheeses, as well as a spicy saffron pasta and couscous, all of which were light, yet satisfying. The drink menu is extensive, and drinks are expertly prepared and so beautifully presented, it’s almost a shame to drink them.

After enjoying the buffet in the bar area, guests can meander into the cavernous dining area where the jazz set takes place every Wednesday. The circular room features photos of contemporary Florence, plenty of seating, and a vaulted ceiling, which makes for great acoustics. As the sound of free jazz wiggles through the air, one can hear spurts of happy conversation amongst the diverse crowd, and even between the musicians and their audience. It’s the ideal place to enjoy live music and take the opportunity to meet Florentines.

Ideal is effortlessly chic without being uptight, it is trendy yet relaxing, and it’s the perfect environment for their combination AperiJazz events. It’s certainly worth the walk for a lovely evening in the company of friends, both old and new.
