Carnival sweets

At Carnival time, between Epiphany and the beginning of Lent, pastry shops and bakeries are full of traditional Florentine sweets: “Cenci”, “Schiacciata alla fiorentina” and “Frittelle di riso”. Not surprisingly, they are as simple and substantial as all Florentine cooking and art- but they are also remarkably yummy!
